Connecting to the grid
From Dreamworld Virtual World
This page explains in detail how you can connect to the Dreamworld grid either by using the Linden client or the RealXtend viewer. There are many different viewers available to connect to the Dreamworld grid. Each viewer has specific advantages over the other one. The best way to compare the different viewers is to look at them as web browsers. It's worth to experiment with them and see which one you like best.
Connecting with the Linden viewer
If you have the Linden viewer installed which is used to explore Second Life you do not have to install any different software to connect to the Dreamworld grid. You can use the same viewer to visit Dreamworld. It is very easy to connect if you follow the steps described below.
Right click the quick launch icon for Second Life that you have on your desktop and select copy. Then paste it again on your desktop. You will now have 2 shortcut icons for the Second Life viewer on your desktop. This way you can use one to connect to Second Life and the new one that you just made to connect to Dreamworld.
Right click your newly created shortcut icon and select the option properties from the dropdown menu. In our example on the wiki the properties window is in Dutch but you recognize the screen. In the properties window do make sure you have the tab Shortcut selected because that is the tab you need.
Step 3
When you look at the properties window image you notice that in the box target the following line is highlighted in blue: "C:\Program Files\SecondLife\SecondLife.exe" We are not going to change this line of text, we are going to add some text behind it, this will allow you to connect to the Dreamworld grid. Keep in mind that you have your other icon to connect to SL if you wish so nothing changes.
After "C:\Program Files\SecondLife\SecondLife.exe"
Put the following line of code:
-loginuri http://77.73.98.187:8002 -loginpage http://virtualworld.sl/loginscreen.php -helperuri http:/virtualworld.sl/
When you have entered the above line of code behind "C:\Program Files\SecondLife\SecondLife.exe" the complete line of text in the target box of the properties window will look like this:
"C:\Program Files\SecondLife\SecondLife.exe" -loginuri http://77.73.98.187:8002 -loginpage http://virtualworld.sl/loginscreen.php -helperuri http://virtualworld.sl/
Now click on the apply button to apply the new settings, then click on ok and you are done.
Double click your newly created icon and the viewer will launch and you can connect to Dreamworld.
Don't forget to enter your correct avatar name and passworld for Dreamworld in the viewer or you won't be able to login.
Connecting with the RealXtend viewer
You might not have the RealXtend viewer installed, you can download the RealXtend viewer first.
When launching the RealXtend viewer fill in your Dreamworld avatar Firstname and Lastname and Password.
This viewer is different from the Linden viewer, it allows users an easy way to connect to the grid of their choice because of the open protocol. In the Connect to box fill in this short line of code:
http://77.73.98.187:8002
- Tip! : Use Ctrl + V to paste the line of code in the Connect to box of the RealXtend viewer.
Click on the connect button and you can log in to the Dreamworld grid by using the RealXtend viewer.
